Founded in 2014, Racine Financial was created to provide guidance to existing, aspiring and retired business owners. We cater to clients with greater than $500,000 of investable assets or $200,000 of combined family income.

John was awarded the Certified Financial Planning, CFP® designation in 2015. He launched Racine Financial in 2014 with a shift to working primarily with family businesses. John believes the best way to reach a goal is with a plan. He stresses the importance of advice for small business owners as they face many challenges including succession planning, retirement planning and managing risk for owners and key employees. As the principal of the firm, John is involved with working directly with clients on financial planning and investment management.
Having worked with his parents early in his career he understands there are great opportunities working with your family, but also recognizes the challenges that can arise. Many small businesses are not equipped with the skills required to make working with family succeed. We understand that a financial plan and the right communication strategy helps increase the odds of a flourishing family business.
When John isn’t spending time working with clients, he can be found hiking or travelling with his family, golfing with his old man, or on the tennis count running after his wife’s cross court forehand.
Jemma earned her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, England in 2009 and subsequently moved to Canada to work in both Academia and Industry before joining us at Racine Financial in 2017. As an Investment Advisor and Associate Planner at Racine Financial, Jemma provides financial planning and investment guidance to our clients.
Money or investing can often make people feel uncomfortable and disengaged. Jemma strives to empower our clients to build a stronger relationship with their money. She is passionate about working with each client’s unique situation to find the best path forward. As a mother of three young daughters, Jemma is inspired to empower women of all ages to feel engaged and confident to manage their money, prioritise goals and formulate a plan.
Jemma is proud to call Port Hope and Northumberland County her home and enjoys giving back to the community. She is a board member of the Port Hope & District Healthcare Foundation. Jemma is also an active volunteer in her daughter’s school community. For relaxation she enjoys playing the piano, doing yoga, playing golf, tennis or going for a hike in beautiful Northumberland County. She is a member of the Port Hope Masters Synchronised Swimming team where she also enjoys volunteering with the Synchro Squirts kids team.
Jeff is a Financial Advisor at Racine Financial with a focus on areas of risk management, group benefits and financial planning. Jeff was awarded his CEBS designation in 2017. He was born and raised in Port Hope and is proud to now reside here with his wife and son. Before joining Racine Financial, Jeff managed a local radio station and served as an on-air personality.
Jeff assists clients in assessing their insurance needs by having candid conversations about what is best for them and their family. Jeff’s favourite part of his role at Racine Financial is growing friendly relationships with clients by having the chance to get to know and work with them.
Jeff believes in giving back to his community. He is an active member of the Port Hope Chamber of Commerce and Northumberland Business Group (NBG). He also serves on the Boards of Directors for both Green Wood Coalition and Northumberland 89.7FM. He is proud to have received 2 Civic Awards in Port Hope for his volunteer work. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family and friends, walking his dog Penny, and tending to his garden.
